Fears and phobias
You don’t need me to tell you how difficult it can be living with a phobia. No matter how many times we tell ourselves it’s illogical it can feel as though it takes over our lives.
It stops us:
• doing things we enjoy
• going to places we would like to visit or even holidays
• sharing experiences with people we love
The impact can be huge, not just on ourselves but on those around us. And when others try to tell us there is nothing to be frightened of it just makes us feel worse. With the best will in the world, if they have never experienced a phobia they don’t understand how we feel. Their attempts to reassure us can end up making us feel worse.
I know how frustrating this can be. A phobia is something we have learned along the way, whether it has been handed down in our family, or just seems to have come out of nowhere. Whether you can remember how it started or not doesn’t matter.
The techniques I will use with you will not make you face your fear (which can be counter productive for some people) rather we will work together to collapse the emotional responses you are experiencing.
During our sessions we will mentally rehearse the outcome you want.
I have helped people just like you and I can help you too. Whilst there are no guarantees you can learn to live a more fulfilling life, free of the constraints of your phobia.
